Questions people ask before ordering
Will they make my shoes tighter?
Only if you leave the original insole in. Handarte is made to replace it, not sit on top of it. Take the old one out and the fit stays close to what it was - the profile is slim on purpose.
Do I have to remove my existing insole?
Yes, whenever it lifts out. Removing it prevents tightness and lets Handarte sit flush against the sole. If yours is glued in you can still use them, but expect a snugger fit.
Can I trim them to fit?
Yes. Lay Handarte on the insole you removed, heels aligned, and cut the toe to match. Go in small passes rather than one big cut - you can always take more off.
What size should I order?
Order your regular shoe size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one and trim the toe down.
Do they work in dress shoes and loafers?
Yes, that is what this model is built for. The slim profile is made for loafers, oxfords and narrow lasts where a thicker insole would crowd the instep. It also works in work shoes and casual sneakers.
Can I wear them without socks?
You can. The leather surface is comfortable against bare skin. With no sock in between the leather takes on more moisture, so air the shoes out overnight.
How do I clean them?
Wipe with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth and let them dry naturally. Do not soak them, do not machine wash, and keep them away from direct heat - heat hardens leather. Store them flat.
How long do they last?
It depends on how hard you wear them. Daily warehouse use is not the same as a few days a week in office shoes. Airing them out daily and rotating between two pairs makes both last longer. With daily wear we suggest replacing every 3 to 4 months to keep the carbon layer working.
Will they really stop the odor?
The leather absorbs moisture off the skin and the active-carbon base works on the odor rather than covering it with fragrance. A drier shoe stays fresher. If your shoes do not stay fresh, our Odor-Free Promise covers a replacement or refund.
